Engagement Coordinator (Hybrid Remote)

Position Summary: The Engagement Coordinator develops and grows relationships within the community that will engage volunteers, corporate partners and nonprofit agencies to help foster an environment of engagement with the United Way of Volusia-Flagler Counties. This position is responsible for overseeing the entire volunteer life cycle including: recruitment, stewardship, and evaluation. United Way professionals should exhibit core competencies: mission-focused, relationship-oriented, collaborator, results-driven, and brand-steward.

Duties and Responsibilities


  • Oversee all programs, services and activities of the Volunteer Center and ensure that all program objectives are met.
  • Contribute to the engagement of United Way supporters by developing and customizing volunteer projects for various stakeholders.
  • Update and maintain the Get Connected platform to ensure up to date volunteer activities are available.


  • Collaborate with local nonprofits to understand their needs and proactively connect volunteers with those needs.
  • Develop strong relationships with community partners to improve communication.
  • Actively seek to build relationships with key stakeholders to promote volunteerism and


  • Work closely with the Community Partnerships Coordinator to prioritize Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) volunteer stewardship such as: recruitment, training, scheduling, and engagement.
  • Collaborate with businesses, volunteers, donors, nonprofit agencies and community groups to achieve the goals of the Volunteer Center.


  • Deliver an awesome experience for volunteers and other partners.
  • Assist with the execution of United Way of Volusia-Flagler Counties’ strategic priorities.


  • Manage relationships with volunteers and other partners that engage them in United Way’s mission.
  • Positively represent the United Way of Volusia-Flagler Counties at community meetings.
  • Develop and deliver ongoing records of progress and status reports for staff and board.


  • Associate’s degree in a related field OR 3 years of relevant work experience.
  • Team player with the ability to work with UWVFC management to achieve organizational goals.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with key stakeholders, peers, and staff.
  • Strong time-management, planning, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent computer skills (minimum of Microsoft software programs) and be able to learn proprietary computer applications quickly.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and have use of insured motor vehicle.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

Work is carried out in a controlled, agreeable environment as generally represented by normal office conditions.  Employees may be required to assist with or attend various offsite events related to programs or fund raising that are scheduled evenings and/or weekends.  These events may require several hours on your feet and assisting with heavy lifting and carrying.

Starting salary $35,000 negotiable based on experience
