Grant Specialist - AmeriCorps (Paid Volunteerism)

United Way of Lake and Sumter Counties' mission is to improve the quality of life and build a stronger community by leveraging resources and uniting community partners to impact education, income, and health. Part of what allows us to accomplish this is through the consistent seeking of writing, researching and submitting grants to supplement donor funding for all services and programs. The Grant Specialist position is a position made possible through our partnership with the AmeriCorps VISTA program and is a role that will work directly with our full time Grant Specialist Lead. The AmeriCorps program is a rich and robust opportunity to extend one's gifts, skills, and talents while being of service.

Please note, this application process must be followed through the link provided below.

To apply for this position, please go to: https://my.americorps.gov/mp/listing/viewListing.do?fromSearch=true&id=109013

For the right candidate for this position, we offer a:
*** $1000 moving stipend (if applicable) and $1000 signing bonus, along with one additional week of paid vacation.***

As an Grant Specialist Volunteer VISTA, you will develop relationships with community partners and agencies, as well as corporations, to seek out grant opportunities. Additionally, grant opportunities are acquired through research online and the use of several portals that store this information for Non-Profit agencies.

Are you eager to find those elusive needle in a haystack funding opportunities? Are you organized? Do you have the gift of attention to detail and being a quick study on gathering the information needed, in order to speak eloquently about each of the fifteen programs we support and provide directly to the community?  If this is your heartbeat, or your preference of working style, we want you to reach out to us at UWLS. If you're a student or like to learn new skills, we invite you to reach out and apply for this position. If you're looking for career potential and a long-term organizational relationship, we want you to be a part of our gifted team and family.

The Grant VISTA position became available in August of 2022 and as it is a federally funded program, will end in August of 2023. However, potential for transition, at that time, to a permanent position within our organization, does certainly exist and will be based on performance. PLEASE NOTE, this position is listed as a FULL TIME VOLUNTEER due to the pay range provided by the Federal Grant that supports the AmeriCorps Vista position. This IS a paid position, however, at a rate that is closer to volunteerism than to a typical wage for such a role.

For more information on this position or the AmeriCorps Vista program, please contact Danielle Heider, our Community Impact Coordinator at dheider@uwls.org.
