Volunteers In Service to America (VISTA) is a national service program, similar to PeaceCorps, except all members are placed at locations within the United States. AmeriCorps VISTA members build capacity in nonprofit organizations and public agencies to help them more effectively generate the commitment of private sector resources, encourage volunteer service at a local level, and empower individuals and communities.
OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBILITIES
VISTA will collaborate with Early Matters El Paso (EMEP) partners and stakeholders to build the capacity of access and awareness of the various early childhood programs in the El Paso region. EMEP Community Education and Outreach Coordinator VISTA will specifically work on the EMEP Enrollment Campaign efforts and help execute a grant awarded by Texas Mutual. The campaign involves developing effective community outreach efforts, communication plan execution and parent/guardian training to conduct outreach. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Objective of the Assignment Develop and execute enrollment outreach efforts to reach parents and guardians of children birth to age 8 in order to increase enrollment in our region’s early childhood education programs.
Member Activity (01/01/2022 - 09/10/2022): Develop relationships with our regional ECE partners and develop a clear understanding of their enrollment processes.
Member Activity (01/01/2022 - 09/10/2022): Build a regional ECE directory of all the available programs available to children in our region ages birth-8 years old.
Member Activity (01/01/2022 - 09/10/2022): Design parent engagement and outreach training sessions with parent/guardian liaisons and ambassadors in each of the ECE programs in the region.
Member Activity (01/01/2022 - 09/10/2022): Coordinate a community-wide door-knocking effort with the team of parent/guardian ambassadors from each ECE program.
Member Activity (01/01/2022 - 09/10/2022): Solicit feedback from families on their experience in enrolling their child or choosing not to enroll and develop a plan of action aligned to that feedback.
Member Activity (01/01/2022 - 09/10/2022): Regularly check in with the EPCAE Program manager to communicate progress, challenges and troubleshoot solutions.

Develop training and follow-up for the parent/guardian ambassadors to ensure the ability to connect with the various community members.
Member Activity (01/01/2022 - 09/10/2022): Develop system that tracks that keeps accurate and timely records of participants and document outreach hours of parent/guardian ambassadors
Member Activity (01/01/2022 - 09/10/2022): Create an outreach/community engagement training pamphlet that can be referenced by the parent/guardian ambassadors post-training.
Member Activity (01/01/2022 - 09/10/2022): Design surveys to be completed by parent/guardians to assess how trainings can be improved and to glean what is working well.
Objective of the Assignment Assist with needed research and data gathering to glean information on enrollment in the early childhood education programs. Assist in developing a data dashboard for the region pre-enrollment campaign, during enrollment campaign and post-enrollment campaign.
Member Activity (01/01/2022 - 09/10/2022): Work with the EPCAE Program Manager to develop system that collects data points to monitor progress, challenges and troubleshoot solutions.

Member Activity (01/01/2022 - 09/10/2022): Create post-enrollment reports on successes, challenges and solutions to improve the processes in future enrollment efforts.
AmeriCorps Members will receive (upon successful completion of program requirements):
A living allowance of $575.40 every two weeks.
Upon completion of a full year of service (12 months), the VISTA will have the option to receive an education award ($6,495) or cash stipend ($1,800)
