Center Aide:
Part-Time (varies, 10 - 30 hours per week)

Basic Job Summary:
The Center Aide will accept all responsibilities of a lead teacher while in various EHS classrooms, relieving teachers for breaks and substituting for all duties in the teachers’ absence.
Areas of Responsibility:

Classroom
-
Maintain ratio according to LA Licensing and NHS standards

Provide staff breaks
-
Substitute as food service staff when required
-
Travel to the Abbeville Center as needed to meet ratio requirements
-
Ensure that children have their basic needs as well as their educational needs met
-
Ensure that children have access to social interaction both indoors and outdoors
-
As a co-teacher, help to ensure that there is an open line of communication between teachers regarding the dynamics in the classroom, substitute as teacher when required

Office

Make bulk copies for both centers

Assist in creating center calendars

Assist in creating home-based calendars

Special Projects
-
Getting classroom materials
-
Ensure playground is free of debris and ensure toys are free of any dust/water from the previous day

Assist in classroom and home-based socialization events
-
Communicate with parents by telephone, or online communications, or in – person as required

Assist with Events such as, Orientation and Transition, Days of Thanksgiving, Holiday Parties, NHS events

Maintain center inventory/coordinate logistics for both centers and home-based needs
Job Classification:
Part-Time, this position does not have any fringe benefits. We are closed for one week in July and two weeks in December as well as many holidays and staff in-service training days throughout the year.
Compensation
The wage determined will be based on education, experience, and competencies.
Educational Requirements:
Must have a current Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) and LA Dept of Ed. Early Childhood Ancillary Certificate (ECAC) in Early Childhood. Must provide transcripts and documents for verification.
Experience:
At least five years of experience in early childhood education and/or social services, can work in a collaborative team environment in multiple settings at a face pace.

Additional Requirements for Hire:

Proof and maintenance of a valid driver’s license.

Proof and maintenance of vehicle insurance.

Must pass a Louisiana State Police background check.

Produce a current physical and TB test

Must have certified CPR and First Aid documentation
