Director of Revenue Control

POSITION SUMMARY

This position reports to the Senior Director of Accounting Operations and is responsible for reporting and internal controls regarding the billing and application of payments as well as revenue accounting.  Collaborates within Finance team as well as across functional areas within United Way Worldwide (“UWW”) and its members.  Develops metrics and reporting indicators to ensure billing and collection processes are complete, accurate and timely.  Serves as subject matter expert in regard to revenue accounting and processes.  Directs staff and resources to ensure customer’s billing needs are met and serves as a partner with various stakeholders.  Supports the annual work goals and objectives of the Finance team in general and the revenue, billing and payment processing processes specifically. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF POSITION

An individual must be able to perform each essential duty listed below at a satisfactory level:

  • Provide leadership across UWW finance areas in regard to membership billing and all aspects of payment processing. Engage with others across UWW and the United Way network demonstrating an approach that is proactive and collaborative.
  • Responsible for generating and reporting monthly revenue reports and analysis of results with accuracy, timeliness, and transparency.
  • Oversees revenue and billing, payment processing and collections processes.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining effective policies and procedures that reflect well-balanced internal controls. 
  • Provides leadership and mentorship to revenue control staff as well as others on the UWW finance team.
  • Participates in the creation of Network accounting guidance documents in conjunction with the UWW Finance Council.
  • Develops a high-performing revenue accounting team that is collaborative across UWW Finance and all UWW functional areas.
  • Other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum requirements include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
  • Five years of expert-level experience in a similar role.
  • Five years of previous people management experience.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate financial data.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of staff.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office suite, computer and Internet research skills; flexibility, excellent interpersonal skills, project coordination experience, and the ability to work well with all levels of internal management and staff, as well as outside clients and vendors.
  • Sensitivity to confidential matters may be required. Attention to detail is essential.
  • The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills (written and verbal), and a clear ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Prior experience with Microsoft Dynamics (Great Plains) software, a plus.
  • Must be a team player with the ability to relate to all levels of staff and have excellent organizational skills.
