Position: Director, Digital Marketing Operations
Reports to: Associate Vice President, Communications

Position Overview: This position will take ownership of UWNYC’s digital marketing platforms: website, social media, and email marketing. This person will serve as strategist, project manager, and brand steward for all internal & external digital marketing campaigns, ensuring that all marketing collateral and communications reflect and embody our innovative, impactful work, while enhancing the visibility and public perception and reputation of UWNYC.
Primary Responsibilities:
The Director, Digital Marketing Operations has one direct report (Senior Associate, Communications) and a dotted-line report (Senior Manager, Social Media & Email Marketing). The Director, Digital Marketing Operations is part of the Communications team, which is part of the larger Marcom team that reports, along with Resource Development, to the Interim Chief Development & Marketing Officer.
The Director, Digital Marketing Operations will play an integral role in digital marketing strategy and operations for UWNYC’s key signature events, including the Power of Women to Make a Difference Awards Luncheon and Gridiron Gala (a partnership with the New York Jets and New York Giants). Additionally, this role works to ensure partner events, fundraising appeals, internal and external newsletters, announcements, and campaigns are effectively messaged, branded, deployed, tracked, and analyzed for success. The Director, Digital Marketing Operations will also serve as research and subject matter expert on new and future digital marketing developments that enhance UWNYC’s awareness and digital fundraising in this ever-evolving landscape.
This position offers hybrid work flexibility from our convenient and accessible midtown Manhattan location. This position will take part in off-site events that may take place during the evenings and on weekends throughout New York City, periodically throughout the year as needed.
Calendar and Campaigns
- Serve as the Communications Team planning calendar steward, tracking and preparing for important annual organizational events, holidays, fundraising campaigns, and initiatives.
- Serve as production planning manager and production meeting facilitator for campaign meetings, ensuring that all assets and deliverables for digital marketing campaigns are developed and implemented successfully and timely.
- Collaborate on the creation of innovative and high impact marketing & communications campaigns that drive UWNYC’s awareness and fundraising efforts.
- Coordinate with Brand Experiences for ideation and creation of new branded design assets (print and digital) as well as video and photography for campaigns and events.
- Facilitate weekly Communications team Digital Marketing Calendar Meeting with AVP Communications, Sr. Manager Social Media & Email Marketing, and Senior Associate Communications.
- Serve as the lead content coordinator for monthly internal employee newsletter, Chatter.
- Coordinate digital marketing presence at UWNYC off-site events provide all-hands support to Sr. Manager Social Media & Email Marketing and Sr. Associate Communications throughout event programming.
- Programs used: MS Office, MS Teams, SharePoint, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Adobe Acrobat, Monday.com
Website
- Under guidance from AVP Communications, develop branded written content for all digital marketing platforms, including the UWNYC website (www.unitedwaynyc.org) and all official UWNYC social media accounts.
- Design strong website marketing infrastructure including landing pages, interactive content, and downloadable collateral materials, user guides, brochures, etc.
- Serve as direct liaison with our web developer to coordinate updates, major changes, and troubleshoot issues
- Handle minor website changes and updates through our website’s back end
- Coordinate and manage website subscriptions for securities, hosting, and other resources with our IT department and process yearly and monthly services invoices with our finance department.
- Work closely with the Senior Associate Communications to schedule and post web articles and news stories.
- Work with Sr. Associate Communications and Communications Interns to perform quarterly website audits.
- Track and review website analytics and report quarterly.
- Programs used: WordPress, Google Analytics
Social Media
- Work closely with Sr. Manager Social Media & Email Marketing to schedule and post social media content across all UWNYC accounts.
- Support with content creation as needed (design, photo, text)
- Review social media analytics for quarterly report.
- Coordinate and manage service subscriptions and other resources with our IT department and process yearly and monthly services invoices with our finance department.
- Programs used: HootSuite, Sprout Social, Adobe Spark and/or Canva, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn
Email Marketing
- Work closely with the Sr. Manager Social Media & Email Marketing to plan email campaign deployment schedules.
- Support with content creation as needed (design, photo, text)
- Coordinate and manage service subscriptions and other resources IT department and process yearly and monthly services invoices with our finance department.
- Review email marketing analytics for quarterly report.
- Programs used: MailChimp
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in Digital Marketing or Communications in a consumer facing company or organization
- Strong interest and awareness of current digital marketing trends
- Keen understanding of analytics and metrics, and experience with tools used to measure audience engagement on digital platforms
- Some experience with programs mentioned in the sections above are preferred
- Experience with online donation platforms like Classy, iDonate, EveryAction, or other is nice to have
- Design, photo-editing, video-editing skills welcomed but not required
- Nonprofit experience is a plus but not required
- Excellent strategic and analytical thinking, problem solver, with strong presentation skills
- Strong writing and editorial skills—can write clearly and turn complex info into simple value propositions
- Experienced communicator—can confidently and eloquently inform the business value of our marketing strategies
- Highly organized, detail-oriented project manager with ability to handle a busy workflow
