Title:  Development Reports to: Chief Development Officer Status: Full time – Exempt | Compensation based on experience. Must be able to work a flexible

schedule with seasonally frequent early mornings , evenings and/or weekends .

ORGANIZATIONAL & POSITION OVERVIEW United Way of Denton County (UWDC) is a fas t-paced dynamic organization focused on improving and trans forming lives in Denton County. This exciting work is made possible by our dedicated Development team. UWDC helps people in need across Denton County by mobilizing communities to action s o all can thrive.

This Development position, under the direction of the Chief Development Officer, is respons ible for res earching, pros pecting, building a pipeline of potential partners , contacting and s ecuring employee giving campaigns , corporate sponsorships and individual gifts . They als o facilita te exis ting donor engagement, recognition, retention and appreciation. The Development pos ition leads fundrais ing activities including: employee giving campaigns , county-wide partnership development. The Development position will be responsible for achieving account portfolio goa ls .

• Develop and execute comprehensive fundraising plans to s ucces s fully achieve revenue objectives . 
• Achieve annual revenue goals for account portfolio. 
• Maintain timely, accurate and up-to-date documentation for a ll UWDC activities . 
• Maintain accurate and deta iled donor account and fundrais ing information in Andar and other UWDC sys tems . 
• Cultivate and manage donor rela tions hips efficiently and effectively. 
• Complete departmental and inter-departmental activities to achieve fundrais ing goals .


• Direct res pons ibility for building s trong, win-win rela tions hips with bus ines s partners and individual donors . 
• Accountable for facilita ting highly effective communication with exis ting donors and new pros pects . 
• Build cros s -functional rela tions hips with organizations and individuals a t a ll levels . 
• Hold meetings throughout the community with partners and individual donors to build and enhance rela tions hips . 
• Secure new employee giving campaign partners hips . 
• Increas e overall participation a t exis ting employee giving campaigns . 
• Increas e overall funds ra is ed through employee giving campaigns . 
• Cultivate and nurture Leaders hip Gift and Planned Gift donations . 
• Serve as the year-round point of contact and s tra tegic advisor for employee giving campaign partners hips . 
• Provide the “bes t of clas s experience” for community inves tors through proactive communication, excellent donor

experiences and ongoing communication. 
• Training and equip workplace giving campaign Ambas s adors . 
• Plan and execute UWDC resource development team s pecia l events and donor recognition activities . 
• Leverage community volunteers to achieve new donor development goals .

New Donor Development 
• Secure market intelligence and develop s tra tegies that lead to increas ed res ource development s ucces s es . 
• In collaboration with the Development Team build a pipeline of high priority pros pects , conduct

background res earch, develop approaches to s ecure employee giving campaign partners hips . 
• In partners hip with the Chief Development Officer, create annual account plans and action s teps that engage

partners on a year-round bas is with UWDC and s ecures increas ed financia l s upport for UWDC. 
• Leverage community volunteers to achieve new donor development goals .

Volunteer & External Relationship Management 
• Develop and support to assist in development activities and goals . 
• Develop a deeper connection within the community to achieve fundraising goals and activities. 
• Recruit and cultivate new employee-giving campaign Ambassadors. 
• Inspire and connect employee campaign Ambassadors to the importance of successful employee giving campaigns, year-round communication, increased volunteerism, and advocacy.


• Demons tra ted fundrais ing or rela ted experience with s ucces s in s ecuring new donors and partners hips . 
• Proven ability to ra is e funds working collaboratively with teams of volunteers , board members , committees and C-suite

level leaders .

• Effective oral, written and lis tening communications s kills with an ability to rela te with a divers e group of individuals and organizations in an effective manner.

• Strong public s peaking and pres entation s kills . 
• Ability to function s tra tegically with proven ability to execute a fundrais ing plan in a timely bas is . 
• Ability to take initia tive and be creative in thinking and s olutions generation. 
• Organized and able to multi-tas k in a fas t-paced team environment cons is ting of s taff and community volunteers . 
• High-energy, enthus ias tic, flexible, s elf-s tarting individual with a pos itive outlook. 
• Demons tra ted ability to manage a portfolio of as s igned accounts in a manner that increas es annual res ults . 
• Ability to achieve expectations of the pos ition’s key accountabilities in a s taff and volunteer team environment. 
• Demons tra ted ability to lis ten, adapt and to pers uade others to clos e fundrais ing opportunities . 
• Confident and s elf-aware, able to work pos itively with others . 
• Proficiency with Micros oft Office tools is required. 
• Proficiency with ANDAR 360 and/ or other fundrais ing s oftware is s trongly preferred.

Minimum Qualifications :

• Undergraduate degree required. 
• Two to three years of experience in nonprofit fundrais ing, account management and/ or rela ted experience. 
• Mus t have a valid driver’s licens e, reliable vehicle, provide proof of ins urance, own a mobile phone and able to travel

throughout Denton County as required to fulfill the duties of the pos ition. 
• Mus t pas s criminal his tory background check upon reques t. 
• Phys ical health & mobility needed to perform the res pons ibilities of the pos ition. Activities s uch as bending, lifting,

s tooping, squatting are frequently required to perform duties ; including but not limited to lifting or moving up to 30lbs .
