Summary

This position implements strategies focused on generating revenue within assigned areas as well as the management of assigned programs. The team member provides ongoing leadership and supervisory direction to United Way ambassadors (temporary staff), Business Champions (loaned executives), executive volunteers, and key projects that enhance department and organizational goals. Responsible for managing matters of significance and demonstrating sound business judgment in overseeing development strategies.

Position Requirements & Qualifications

  • Five (5) years demonstrated history of sales and/or community outreach success with at least three (3) years in nonprofit fundraising.
  • Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred; comparable experience considered.
  • Experience working with executive level volunteers required.
  • CRM database experience required. 
  • Microsoft Office suite proficiency required. Microsoft 365 & SharePoint, preferred.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and have use of an insured motor vehicle.
  • Available to work a schedule that may extend over 40 hours per week and sometimes includes early morning and evening activities.

Essential Job Responsibilities

Fundraising & Data Management

  • Manage a portfolio of workplace, individual, and direct mail accounts to increase participation, average giving, leadership giving and overall year-round engagement with United Way.
  • Individually responsible for assigned industries and other key accounts.
  • Manage all aspects of assigned accounts, including account creation, organization, and recording of relevant notes in CRM.
  • Provide guidance and direction to operations manager on direct mail projects related to assigned accounts.
  • Define reporting needs and work with internal team on content, formatting, timeline and delivery.
  • Utilize reports and data to inform decisions and strategy.
  • Develop annual curriculum for United Way Ambassador and Business Champion Program; actively contribute in the promotion and recruitment of new participants.
  • Serve as lead project manager for Caring Club program.
  • Maintain accurate record keeping and account data management for areas of responsibility; utilize available data to drive decisions and evaluate success.

Donor Stewardship and Business Development

  • In collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, identify opportunities to partner with new prospects related to assigned accounts and areas of responsibility.
  • Inform current and potential partners about investment impact and organizational progress towards community goals.
  • Meet annual goals for personal contact with donors and prospects, with a strong emphasis on face-to-face meetings, but also includes phone, e-mail, and other unique donor engagement opportunities.

Volunteer Management

  • Identify, recruit, train and manage influential campaign volunteers in areas of responsibility.
  • Direct volunteer teams in establishing an aggressive goal with strategies to meet those goals.
  • Monitor all activity in assigned areas to ensure adherence to timelines and reporting by tracking progress toward goals.
  • Manage a team of volunteers and ambassadors in meeting and completing deadlines on all campaign-related items.
  • Manage a team of volunteers and ambassadors until all campaign dollars are audited based on projections and goals.

Fundraising Strategies & Implementation

  • Contribute to departmental planning and executing of fundraising strategies for broadening donor base and increasing giving among current donors.
  • Provide staff support where needed, leadership to assigned volunteers and committees, and assist with special functions as necessary throughout the year.
  • Volunteer and actively participate in United Way projects, special events, and cross-functional teams or workgroups that support the entire organization.

Other duties as assigned to advance the goals of Resource Development and the mission of United Way of the Coastal Empire.

  • Much of the work of this position is completed while sitting at a desk, using a computer and phone. Requires talking, hearing and visual acuity sufficient to perform these major functions.
  • Occasionally must travel to special events and meetings, often transporting supplies and materials in personal vehicle requiring bending, lifting and carrying 25 pounds.
  • Occasionally includes reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or lifting up to 25 pounds for office equipment, supplies and materials.

Salary $55,000-$65,000
