Database Manager

Position Summary
The Database Manager is an integral member of the MUW team, using his/her/their experience to update and maintain a highly valuable database for donor cultivation. The successful candidate enjoys all things database and appreciates clear processes to ensure that reports are accurate and helpful. The candidate also pays high attention to detail and enjoys working with financial staff to reconcile data together.

The Database Manager is responsible for recording donations: updating and maintaining MUW’s donor database to track gift/financial and contact information on donors and prospects. The Database Manager also serves as lead system administrator, identifying database capabilities and how to use them to support fundraising efforts. The Database Manager supports the internal team by identifying and running regular reports, managing technology access, and training. This position reports to the President.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Ensure timely processing of donor data from all channels, including contact info, donor demographics and relationships.
• Complete gift entry by accurately entering new or updating existing records with gift amounts, and assigning appropriate mapping, campaigns, designations, appeals, etc.
• Generate gift reports and verify accuracy of reports to support timely execution of donor stewardship strategies.
• Generate deposit slips, process matching gifts, run letters as needed and maintain pertinent documents with donor records.
• Work closely with the Accounting Department to provide detailed information for monthly reconciliation and collections process.
• Research donor inquiries and issues, working closely with the fundraising staff to provide clear, accurate and helpful information to donors.
• Maintain donor database codes; monitor and maintain data integrity.
• Serve as liaison to the software vendor to effectively resolve issues.
• Provide training and support to other database end users.
• Work with MUW to establish and maintain best practices and procedures, such as Style Guides, data checklists and Standard Operating Procedures.
• Serve as project leader for United Way Worldwide’s annual Database Reporting.
• Accomplish the activities outlined in the Database Manager’s Annual Workplan.

Experience and qualifications
• Highly detail oriented with a critical degree of accuracy regarding data entry and analysis.
• Proficient use of customer relations management databases such as Raiser’s Edge, SalesForce or other CRM.
• Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications such as Excel and Word.
• Ability to reconcile the database with the finance team.
• Ability to develop queries, import/export and manipulate and analyze data for a variety of fundraising needs.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Flexibility, willingness and ability to learn new tasks and take on new projects.
• Ability to analyze, research, think creatively to solve problems, or improve processes.
• Ability to collaborate with teams and prioritize tasks to completion.

Other Requirements
• A Bachelor's degree and minimum three to five years of experience in database management. Nonprofit database management a plus.
• Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to attend meetings outside of normal work hours and to travel, if necessary.
• Valid driver’s license, proof of automobile insurance, and daily access to personal vehicle.
• Able to lift up to 30 pounds.

Salary Range
$50,000 - $55,000 full-time-equivalent at 30 – 37.5 hours per week with full benefits package. Salary will be prorated based on experience and agreed-upon hours.
