Database Administrator

Job Summary

The purpose of this position is to work collaboratively across Finance and Resource Development (fundraising) departments in managing the administration of the organization’s CRM database and providing data science services to the organization.  Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Database Administrator will assist in collecting, manipulating, performing statistical analysis on, reporting and interpreting data to help build capacity in the use of information in evaluating the efficacy of the mission of our United Way.  Serves as point of contact with database softward on all issues including support, development, training and integration.

This is a full time position for a motivated individual with a high level of initiative, excellent management, communication, organizational and facilitation skills.

Salary Range:  $48,000 to $52,000 annually

Responsibilities

  • Optimizing utilization of our Constituent Relationship Management (StratusLive) software and database system.
  • Serve as the StratusLive technical expert, working with campaign processing and accounting staff, to process, secure, and back-up data.
  • Create e-Pledge corporate donor pages for those clients requesting e-Pledge services.
  • Provide a high level of customer service to staff, including reliable input on the day-to-day accounting, campaign processing and e-Pledge services.
  • Provide and ensure that appropriate software training and helpdesk support is available for StratusLive staff users.
  • Develop and maintain long-term strategy for data storage, entry, and analysis, as well as written procedures so that StratusLive processes operate with reliability and integrity.
  • Manages and coordinates development and analysis of reports and exports for campaign and financial data, ensuring creation of accurate and consistent reports and dashboards.
  • Maintains database integrity by setting and enforcing standards and controls.
  • Monitor database performance and troubleshoot problems.
  • Liaison with Finance and Resource Development to ensure that there is a seamless coordination of processes.
  • Coordinate completion and filing of annual “Database 2 Survey” with United Way Worldwide.
  • Monitor opportunities for expanded use of StratusLive software tools and applications.
  • Support and lead other UWTSA activities as identified needed.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

 

Job qualifications

  • Excellent listening, collaboration, problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent analytical ability and a strong understanding of data validation and quality.
  • Proven ability to collect, manipulate, and utilize large amounts data, and interpret data so that it provides meaningful and actionable information.
  • Demonstrated skill in database design and management, data analytics, visualization and reporting.
  • Familiarity with ANDAR or StratusLive a plus.
  • Superior knowledge of Excel a must, as well as other Microsoft Office products (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Power BI).
  • Driven to pose questions and hunt down solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interact and work in partnership with diverse groups of staff, volunteers, donors and other stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to clearly communicate complex data in an understandable way to a variety of audiences, through data representations, dashboards, presentations, etc.
  • Self-motivated and independent, with strong sense of focus, follow-through and organization.
  • Demonstrated flexibility to re-prioritize, multi-task, and switch tasks fluidly in response to a dynamic workflow.
     

Education and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in management information systems, computer sciences, statistics, data science, economics or related field and 3-5 years or more of experience in data analytics, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated effective prior experience in database management, data reporting systems and programs, data analyses, data mining, and/or business analytics.
  • Familiarity with ANDAR or StratusLive a plus.
  • Expertise in developing and implementing queries, reports, and data visualizations.
  • Advanced knowledge of statistical tools, as well as Excel and relational databases.
  • Must have a valid AZ Driver’s License, proof of current automobile insurance and daily access to a reliable vehicle.  Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 lbs as necessary.
