Community Impact Program Manager

ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW

United Way of Berks County helps people in need, addresses our county’s critical issues and makes our community a better place for everyone.  Our work is rooted in those fundamental principles, and through our unique ability, we bring the right mix of people and organizations together to create lasting changes throughout Berks County.

Our work is centered on raising and distributing funds invest in 50+ local health and human service programs, as well as tackling our community’s key issues and working towards solutions in the areas of Education, Health, Financial Stability and Safety Net Services. We help give kids the right start and achieve greater successes; we work with families to become financially stable;  promote healthy lifestyles: and help those most in need

OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides leadership and support to community outreach, relationship building, and Ready.Set.Read! (RSR) with the Star Readers Program, Summer Learning Coalition, and other RSR Programs. This position will ensure the implementation of various RSR school-age programming. This position will also establish and build relationships with school and community partners to drive the goals of Community Impact and RSR initiatives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Support the Community Impact department. Provide leadership and support to the RSR Initiative.  Manage collection of program data for Ready.Set.Read!

EDUCATION/REQUIREMENTS

Associate’s Degree with 2-4 years human services or education experience or Bachelor’s Degree with one year related experience. Bilingual English/Spanish encouraged

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Physical Demands:  The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  While performing these duties employee is frequently required to sit, walk, talk, and hear.  Employee is regularly required to stand, reach, stoop, handle and/or lift up to 10 pounds.  Occasionally employee will need to lift, move, and handle items up to 25 pounds.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform the essential functions of the position.

Travel:  Regular travel to attend meetings, events, or conferences/trainings within the County of Berks and occasionally outside of the county and/or state is expected.  Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some evening, out-of-area and overnight travel may be required. Please note during COVID-19 Pandemic, such travel is currently on hold.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

As applicable:  Valid driver’s license, state mandated automobile insurance and reliable transportation or access to reliable and available transportation.

Expected Hours of Work:  This position is expected to adhere to the core hours.  However, this position occasionally requires overtime and weekend work.
