ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW

The United Way of Hancock County's mission is to measurably improve the lives of vulnerable children, families, and individuals in Hancock County.

OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBILITIES

The Community Impact Director pursues UWHC’s mission by mobilizing and deepening resources to enhance the mission of measurably improving the lives of vulnerable children, families, and individuals in Hancock County. This role is responsible for maintaining strong relationships with local non-profits, finding collaborative solutions to community issues, facilitating the UWHC grant allocation process and developing outside grant opportunities to bring additional dollars into Hancock County.

POSITION SUMMARY

COMMUNITY IMPACT (45%)

  • Develop/manage relationships with local non-profits, including UWHC partners and others
  • Collaborate with community partners to maximize impact
  • Coordinate the involvement of diverse stakeholders (agencies, businesses, volunteers, schools, governmental bodies) for collective impact on community issues
  • Monitor Hancock County social service priorities
  • Support UWHC and community-focused committees and problem-solving groups
  • Coordinate informative donor experiences to assist with advocacy and fundraising

INTERNAL GRANT LEAD (15%)

  • Strategize, plan, communicate and manage the annual UWHC grant process
  • Measure UWHC impacts and results at the agency, program, and community levels
  • Recruit, train and support the volunteer team that recommends funding allocations

EXTERNAL GRANT WRITER (40%)

  • Develop additional resources through grant-writing
  • Prepare proposals by determining concept, gathering and formatting information, writing drafts, and obtaining approvals
  • Deploy a strong knowledge of UWHC’s history, priorities, and programs
  • Meet proposal and reporting deadlines
  • gathering, writing, review, approval, and transmittal.
  • Maintain quality submissions and strong results
  • Perform other essential duties as directed by the President/CEO

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Education in the fields of public, social work, or service administration/planning and grant writing are a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to create, grow and retain strong customer relationships
  • Interpersonal competence in working with and motivating volunteers and key members of the community
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, time management, interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to develop creative solutions and improve processes
  • Strong computer skills, with experience with Microsoft products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and CRM System (Salesforce) basics
