Community Impact Assistant

OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide essential support for the development and execution of activities for United Way of Tompkins County Community Impact efforts, including managing student engagement programs, supporting grant application and review processes, financial stability initiatives, and marketing efforts. 

Summary of Duties: 

Student Engagement

• Manage UWTC student and campus engagement programs, working with youth ranging from middle school to college age

• Coordinate and plan student activities, programs, and events in the community

• Help build collaborative networks between schools in Tompkins County and the local organizations

Asset Coalition and Financial Stability Initiatives

• Provide administrative support – take meeting minutes, prepare and distribute agendas and meeting materials, etc.

• Organize and coordinate group activities 

• Ensure committee goals are being met

• Assist with managing partner communications 

Grant and Data Management

• Assist with generating grant applications and reports, including creating and updating forms in an online grant management database 

• Support agencies and United Way volunteers through application and outcomes reporting process

• Organize and conduct grant review team meetings with volunteers

• Assist and support resource development work by extracting Community Impact data from the online grant management database

General Community Investment Support

• Organize, coordinate, and prepare meetings between local agencies, volunteers, and community members

• Attend community meetings as a UWTC representative

• Website construction, edits, monitoring and updates

• Help create and edit UWTC Messaging with social media methods

• Build and maintain strong relationships through a strong customer-service orientation, timely response to inquiries, and commitment to UWTC mission and values 

ACCOUNTABILITY & SCHEDULE

• Reports to the Director of Community Impact

• Permanent, Part-time with benefits, 18 hours a week

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES

• Efficient management and execution of multiple projects at the same time

• Experience with youth programming and program management

• Demonstrated customer service skills and experience

• Effective written and verbal communication 

• Demonstrated proficiency in computer applications and web-based technologies, with the ability to learn new technologies

• Some experience with coding preferred

• Strong communication skills and comfort with networking

• Commitment to integrity

Education

• Associates degree or 2-5 years of experience in a related field is required. A bachelors degree is a plus.
