At the core of the United Way of Southeastern Connecticut is the work provided by the 48 programs in 25 partner agencies. These respected nonprofit organizations are home to programs which together with other United Way programs and initiatives (such as the Gemma E. Moran United Way/Labor Food Bank, New Capacities: Norwich, Project Warm-Up, Day of Caring, the New London County Fund to End Homelessness), American Red Cross CT Chapter's Armed Forces Emergency Services and Disaster Services, and United Way 2-1-1, provide the building blocks for a good quality of life for people in our community. Its mission is “to inspire and coordinate the generosity and commitment that sustains a united, thriving community.”
OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBILITIES
The Community Engagement Specialist will promote United Way of Southeastern Connecticut, its mission, vision and services, to gain support through campaign fundraising and create a positive public image. The ideal candidate is dedicated to shared and measurable goals for the common good as well as resourcing and leveraging strategies and innovations for broad investment and impact.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Support resource development, coordinate and support staff and volunteers with donor and engagement projects, special events or promotions.
Create and manage annual workplace giving campaign employing a fundraising process that sets goals and helps to identify volunteers.
Manage assigned accounts and provide excellent customer service to support key volunteers.
Develop account relationships that enhance year-round interaction with United Way of Southeastern Connecticut.
Research, evaluate and contact prospects for new account development.
Ensure account data is accurate and information is collected, recorded and distributed accurately and timely.
The specialist must be able to work well in a team environment.
A bachelor’s degree or equivalent is desired. This is an exempt union position. Job description available upon request.
Must be articulate, self-motivated, well organized and able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Must have strong computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite, use of social media channels and the Customer Relationship Management software Andar/360 (not required but desired).
Must have resource development, campaign or major gifts experience.
