Schedule: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week, Exempt

Salary Range: $45,000 - $50,000, based on experience

Job Description:

The Community Engagement Coordinator reports to the Director of Resource Development and works in collaboration with the Community Impact department. The Coordinator is responsible for overseeing a range of community engagement activities and events, including the Volunteer Center program and corporate partner volunteer engagements. This entry-level role provides ample opportunity for professional growth.

Responsibilities:

Community Engagement/Partnerships (40%):

  • Coordination of the UWNCM Volunteer Center program; maintains the volunteer website including business/agency spotlights and other critical information.
  • Cultivate relationships with key stakeholders within assigned workplace campaigns, volunteer projects, and community groups.
  • Establish and maintain strategic community partnerships to increase UWNCM impact, brand awareness, funding, and community understanding.
  • Participate in community meetings to increase understanding of volunteer and community needs and to better coordinate services.
  • Coordinate logistics of in-kind contributions, including food and supply drives, from solicitation to agency distribution.

Corporate Engagement (50%):

  • Coordinate with team on Corporate Engagement Plans for active and prospective corporate accounts. This may include coordination with partner agencies and community organizations to develop and implement annual volunteer projects for each corporate account.
  • Create, develop, and manage all aspects of the project planning for assigned volunteer projects and events from inception through completion.
  • Develop and pilot new volunteer events to engage corporate groups with the work of UWNCM and its partner agencies.
  • Collaborate with key community partners, agencies, and individuals.

Resource Development (10%):

  • Support development team with assigned employee campaigns, including stewardship of corporate contacts and arrangement of campaign schedules.
  • Assist development team in securing sponsorships for planned events (e.g. Day of Caring, Community Celebration).
  • Work with colleagues to strengthen relationships and identify opportunities that will increase campaign revenue and engagement.
  • Collaborate with team members on initiatives, projects, strategies, and events (including Community Impact and Marketing).

Qualifications & Skills: 

You have:

  • An Associate degree or equivalent experience in event management, volunteer coordination, community engagement, or related fields.
  • A commitment to professional growth and development.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Highly developed project management skills.
  • Demonstrated skills using Windows-based software, including internet browsers, e-mail, word processing, spreadsheets, database management, and presentations.
  • The ability to maintain a flexible work schedule (including times of working early mornings, evenings, and/or the very rare weekend) and adjust it as required for volunteer or community events.
  • Reliable access to transportation across our entire served region of North Central MA in order to attend community events, manage volunteer events, etc.

You are also good at:

  • Working across functional boundaries to solve problems, improve processes, and achieve excellent results.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all levels of United Way staff as well as diverse volunteers, community partners, vendors, and other constituents.
  • Recognizing the value that diversity brings to an organization and community and expanding equity whenever possible.
  • Optimizing best practices in volunteer management, especially regarding Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility.
