Community Building VISTA-Thomas Jefferson, Freemansburg and Dodd-Allentown (3)

The Community Building VISTA will be serving inside of a public school building. Each VISTA build the school’s capacity in four major areas: 1. Build a robust process to communicate school’s needs, milestones and highlights with all stakeholders 2. Embed processes to gather and submit quarterly school data to UWGLV on indicators on end of year report 3. Gather information and data on all current partnerships and develop systems to track data related to performance of programs and outcomes of student participants 4. Build connections to resources in the community identified by the school as necessary to the success of students, should include programs and providers already funded by UW to serve school 5. Assess school staff’s understanding of Community Schools and create an action plan to build more CS skills and knowledge.

United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley has begun our search for our 2020-2021 AmeriCorps VISTAs!  The deadline to apply is 7/10/2020.

Please consider this exciting opportunity to contribute to our mission, gain valuable work experience and receive a small living allowance all at the same time.

The United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley has committed to a goal of increasing the number of students reading on grade level by 2022. To reach this goal we will mobilize and coordinate a host of community partners to join the movement, align their efforts, raise the quality of strategies and programs delivered and value and celebrate a collective impact with students and families. We will accomplish this goal by leveraging individual, programmatic and systemic changes intentionally brought about through the implementation of the United Way Community School Model.
