ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW

Volunteers In Service to America (VISTA) is a national service program, similar to PeaceCorps, except all members are placed at locations within the United States. AmeriCorps VISTA members build capacity in nonprofit organizations and public agencies to help them more effectively generate the commitment of private sector resources, encourage volunteer service at a local level, and empower individuals and communities. 

OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBILITIES

The Capacity Development VISTA will provide assistance to the Be Well Technical Assistance Program, in El Paso County. CD VISTA activities will be in a broad range of organizational areas, including strategic planning, communications and engagement, and capacity building. The activities performed by the VISTA will be essential to projects that will better the community of El Paso County and reduce poverty. The CD VISTA will report on all operational and administration duties to Project Manager.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Objective of the Assignment

Assist in the research and development of structure for the Be Well Technical Assistance (TA) Program

Member Activity (09/12/2021 - 09/10/2022): Engage on research and planning to support the development of the Be Well TA Program.

Member Activity (09/12/2021 - 09/10/2022): Research and propose structures and models for the development of the Be Well TA Program.

Member Activity (09/12/2021 - 09/10/2022): Assist in the writing of content and manuals for the Be Well TA Program Objective of the Assignment Develop a support system for the learning Be Well Technical Assistance (TA) Program to ensure that the program is providing quality mental health services across the community.

Member Activity (09/12/2021 - 09/10/2022): Assist Project Manager with constant communication with partners and community, in the form of reminders, emails, calls, bookings, etc.

Member Activity (09/12/2021 - 09/10/2022): Provide guidance and follow up with community and stakeholders partners in regards to trainings or meetings.

Member Activity (09/12/2021 - 09/10/2022): Create and obtain feedback via surveys from participants and partners to ensure trainings are appropriate and applicable to the needs of the group.

Member Activity (09/12/2021 - 09/10/2022): Develop a frequently ask questions and assist in answering questions from community and stakeholder partners.

Objective of the Assignment

Develop and provide capacity building and community engagement to agencies receiving Be Well TA.

Member Activity (09/12/2021 - 09/10/2022): Assist in developing a process to gain and formalize partnerships for the group.

Member Activity (09/12/2021 - 09/10/2022): Develop documents and procedures necessary for outreach to new/existing partners.

Member Activity (09/12/2021 - 09/10/2022): Develop and execute an engagement strategy to maximize the partnerships

Member Activity (09/12/2021 - 09/10/2022): Create necessary informational resources and outreach material to increase awareness of the project(s) and activities of the group.

Member Activity (09/12/2021 - 09/10/2022): Assist Project Manager with outreach through communication with partners and community.

Member Activity (09/12/2021 - 09/10/2022): Provide guidance and follow up with community and stakeholders partners in regards to trainings or meetings.

AmeriCorps Members will receive (upon successful completion of program requirements):
A living allowance of $575.40 every two weeks.
Upon completion of a full year of service (12 months), the VISTA will have the option to receive an education award ($6,495) or cash stipend ($1,800)
A health insurance plan and SNAP eligibility
