Chief Finance Officer (CFO)

United Way of Central Florida (UWCF) has been improving lives and strengthening the communities of Polk, Hardee, and Highlands counties for more than 75 years. We provide services to individuals in Central Florida by contracting with qualified partners to improve the health, education and financial stability of the adults and children we serve.

UWCF seeks an experienced full-time Chief Finance Officer (CFO). This critical member of the management team plans, leads, and manages the affairs of the Finance and Donor Services Departments to include budgeting, strategic planning, and staff leadership. The CFO ensures the financial, informational, and operational integrity of the organization. His/her executive supervisory responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance of employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.

To be considered for the position, and applicant must possess at least a Bachelor’s Degree in an accounting or accounting related major from an accredited four-year college or university with at least five year’s related experience in not-for-profit accounting. CPA certification is preferred. An auditing background (internal or external) is strongly preferred. Oral and written communications skills are required with demonstrated success in leading teams to fulfill stated goals and objectives.  The position demands someone willing to delve into details of accounts receivable, payables and other accounting functions while willing and able to lead budget planning and oversee cash management.
