Associate Director, Sponsorship Fundraising

United Way Miami, Inc. is hiring for an Associate Director, Sponsorship Fundraising to join our team. As an Associate Director, Sponsorship Fundraising you will oversee, develop and manage United Way Direct fundraising initiatives to attract new and expand giving from existing individual, corporate, foundation and employee donations through a range of fundraising vehicles including but not limited to signature events, tribute gifts, sponsorship sales, online giving days and other activities that generate revenue outside of the workplace campaign.


Designs and implements sales strategy:

  • Designs and implements sales plans for all UW Direct events and initiatives; focuses on growing sponsorships across industries and sectors to achieve fundraising goals; and engages manager in crafting of sponsorship agreements.
  • Develops and manages a continuous pipeline of leads to generate new business opportunities; retains and expands existing donor/sponsorship client base; and leads prospect development/cultivation/solicitation strategies to support closing donor/sponsor commitments. 
  • Recruits event chairs and committee members; provides sales support for volunteers; and tracks prospect activities. 
  • Forecasts, monitors and reports on sales metrics and progress; maintains clear communication and awareness of sales activities; ensures event/product brand values and guidelines are followed through sponsorship arrangements.
  • Identifies and develops creative fundraising opportunities, strategic partnerships and works with team to conceptualize and create sponsorship packages; prepares solicitation proposals, and executes revenue-generating opportunities to drive incremental revenue for United Way’s community plan. 

Manages day-to-day United Way Direct fundraising activities:

  • Leads United Way Direct team’s fundraising vehicles including annual signature events (VeritageMiami, Mayor’s Ball, Annual Meeting, 5k, Corporate Run, inaugural cruises and other community-wide events), tribute giving program (Giving Grams), special giving days and other one-time opportunistic revenue generation activations. 
  • Creates correspondence and manages outreach efforts with committee volunteers, prospects and confirmed sponsors; and drives fulfillment of sponsor benefits and recognition in accordance with the agreement. 
  • Responsible for the supervision of subordinate employees, which includes training, developing, measuring performance, disciplining and directing tasks.  Has authority to hire, transfer, promote, compensate, or terminate subordinate employees or recommend such actions.  

Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree; Master’s preferred.

Experience Requirements: Minimum of five to eight years’ experience in sales, presentation skills, account management, fundraising, and volunteer management.  At least 2 years’ experience in a supervisory role.

Technology Requirements: Intermediate Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet Explorer, Outlook, OneCause, Andar CRM/iAttend/eVolunteer, Teams, SharePoint, and Adobe Acrobat.

Other Essential Knowledge/Skills: Strong written and communications skills, good interpersonal skills, able to work well under pressure, mathematical skills.  Spanish language helpful.
