Area Director

Valley United Way (VUW) is seeking a dynamic, customer-focused, proven fundraising professional to fill a new opportunity as Valley United Way Area Director. The full-time position will be primarily responsible for VUW’s Resource Development work and for significantly growing, deepening, and diversifying its current development work that is focused on corporate investors and work-place employee campaigns.

The Director will be a highly visible and actively engaged community partner with the business and non-profit sectors in the tightly-knit Naugatuck Valley towns of Ansonia, Derby, Oxford, Seymour, and Shelton, CT.  These indvidual Valley towns collectively hold the distincitioin of being designated An All-American City because of their ability to work across municipal boundaries to benefit their citizens and community, a high percentage of whom are Asset Limited. Income Constrained. Employed [ALICE] familes. It is in that context that Valley United Way, with its Live United focus, is seen as a community leader and collaborator. 

As the day-to-day face of United Way in the Valley, the Director will exude a partnership leadership style that invites engagement in VUW’s work to Strengthen Families, Help People in Crisis, and Prepare Youth to Succeed. 

The ideal Director will have a demonstrated history of successful fundraising experience in, or near, the Valley and have a reputation for innovation, exceptional customer relations, and a can-do attitude that focuses on improving a community and the lives of those who live there.
