AmeriCorps Program Manager

We are the Uniters. We bring people together to solve problems. We identify the most pressing issues in our community and we bring together the people we think can solve them. United Way funds agencies that, working together, can address the nuances of complex problems like homelessness or the academic achievement gap. We create programs and initiatives to fill unmet needs. We deploy volunteers and socially responsible companies as the engines of change and the feet on the street, delivering hope to people in need. We raise funding through generous donors who understand that social change can't happen without it.

The United Way AmeriCorps Program places a team of up to 30 AmeriCorps Fellows in public schools and nonprofit organizations throughout the communities of Lynn, Salem, and Gloucester MA. All cities have seen a rise in their populations of new immigrants, which has created more robust and diverse cities. With these new populations, there has been rapidly increasing pressure to meet their needs, particularly around K-12 success. Fellows are trained to provide structured tutoring and mentoring support to multilingual learners, helping them succeed academically and develop social-emotional skills (self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, etc.). Fellows serve with their host sites, either in a school or a nonprofit, supporting multilingual learners grades K-12, depending on the host site.

The Program Manager will lead and support activities related to the United Way AmeriCorps Program.
