Opportunity:  Accounting Intern

Department: Finance & Administration

$500 Stipend for a 12 Week Internship

OPPORTUNITY DESCRIPTION

The accounting intern will be assigned accounting and finance related projects such as documenting our accounting processes and assisting with AP and AR processing.  They will be given an opportunity to participate in the preparation of financials for committee meetings, attend those meetings, go along on bank deposit runs, and shadow other members of Finance as they conduct bank reconciliations, journal entries and budgetary work.

 

This opportunity is appropriate for an Intern or a volunteer looking to gain real world experience in the very specific nature of non-profit financial accounting, including understanding tax filings such as the 990.  But we are also a business and this internship will also provide hands-on experience with AP, AR and cash flow planning using the accounting software package Financial Edge.   This intern reports to our Controller in our Finance & Administration department.  This internship is based in our offices in Allentown, PA.  We are looking for a minimum commitment of 3 months and a minimum of 10 hours per week but have enough work to provide up to 20 hours of work per week if needed to meet your school’s internship requirements. Flexible schedule within normal business hours Monday-Friday. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Attending or have attended college level courses in accounting or finance
  • Career focus in accounting or finance
  • Volunteers and Interns in our office must be at least 18 years of age
